Welcoming the Brunnock Family to their New Home in Steyn City

Upon walking into the modern splendour of the Brunnock Family home, I was greeted with the pitter-patter and laughter of little people in a space that’s so comfortable, I immediately felt at home.

The house, built in the renowned Steyn City estate in the north of Johannesburg, maintains a sense of luxury without forgoing functionality with five en-suite bedrooms all decorated to suit the modern yet simple lifestyle of the owners, Michelle and Martin.

Delicious canapés and fine wine were served to the guests, as our hosts took us on a tour of their home and the consensus was general, stunning yet oh-so liveable with impeccable and succinct décor by the gracious Audi Snyman. From a custom made pool table to out of this world wallpapers, it was clear that the collaborative effort of the young family, architects and interior designer was successful from beginning to end.

The house is an entertainer’s dream with ample living spaces and a gorgeous pool surrounded by lighting that comes alive in the night time. Downstairs there is a home movie theatre in the basement with a bed right in the centre: absolutely brilliant idea because nothing beats a flick in the comfort of your own home… and bed, true luxury living.

The open house was comfortably packed to the brim with the owners’ friends and family all staking a claim to their favourite rooms in the house. We even had grandma laying a claim to the impeccably styled guest room right across the children’s bedrooms, perfect for Michelle’s and Martin’s professional lifestyles and her babysitting indefinitely, of course. The thread of personal touches run softly across the household, like abstract portraits of the boys in the entertainment area upstairs, a woven-like world map wallpaper in the study and multiple steel rings encapsulating a spellbinding chandelier in the entrance of the home: a triumphant fusion of their dreams and reality.

Standing on the north-facing balcony of the main bedroom, I had a beautiful view of the beautiful estate and the brilliant night sky, only imagining the bliss the couple experiences every waking morning. Just behind the cosy bed is a giant bathtub, a double-volume shower and a walk-in closet to die for, a dream for any couple that truly lives in their home.

Another highlight definitely worth mentioning are the two boys’ bedrooms: space and aeronautical themed wallpapers and bedding with custom made toy chests that double as ottomans, all fit for future modern-day kings.
