Shamballa Jewels – Introduces the energy of creation to Africa.

October 5, 2016

September 2016, Sandton South Africa

The Saxon Hotel, a tranquil oasis in the bustling city of Sandton – Africa’s luxury epicentre, was the perfect setting to meet the inspired and very spiritual Mads Kornerup. Mads is the creative genius behind Shamballa Jewels, a brand of unique beaded bracelets that are in a class of their own.  The care and quality that goes into each and every bead, made from precious and semi-precious stone, metal and wood,  is immediately noticeable. This is why royalty and A-Listers alike are wearing Shamballa and display these personalised creations proudly.

Sitting in the privacy of the Saxon, Mads connected with me on a level far beyond words alone. He speaks of jewellery that  speaks directly to the soul and reminds the wearer of their own inner power – an expression of self-worth and value. Mads walked me through the process each client before me has followed. This personal experience, far beyond a sales call, was a shared journey into self-realisation culminating in an incredible sapphire, rose gold and black diamond bracelet. I left the room inspired knowing that I had just experienced one of best luxury brands in the world.

Our discussions with Shamballa, went on to Africa and the expansion of luxury. Mads explained that he has an eye on the continent and is looking for ways to bring his experience to Kenya, Nigeria and Ruwanda. He expressed a shared vision in African potential and we are excited to be part of brining this brand to you – the African Luxury Market.

The Story Behind Shamballa

Ancient scriptures tell us of a mythical kingdom hidden in a valley in the Himalayas. A harmonious place populated by enlightened and compassionate people, the Kingdom of Shamballa when translated from Sanskrit means ‘a place of peace and tranquility’. By incorporating ancient spiritual symbols in our designs, our jewelry encourages you to find your inner Shamballa – your inner compassion and wisdom.

Mads Kornerup originally designed the Shamballa Bracelet in 2001 for music impresario Jay Z, who came in search of a unique piece. A yoga and meditation practitioner, Mads created a bracelet inspired by prayer beads – a braided macramé bracelet featuring gold beads with Jay Z’s initials, his company logo, two half carat diamonds and his zodiac sign. An icon was born. Never before had fine jewelry been presented with such refined casualness and offered such a high level of customization. Following the success of the design, Mads and Mikkel

Kornerup established Shamballa Jewels in 2005, in Copenhagen, Denmark. The brothers continue to create jewelry fueled by tradition and innovation. A rising star in the fine jewelry segment, Shamballa Jewels is present in over 30 countries, with stand-alone stores in Copenhagen and Amsterdam. The design repertoire includes customizable bracelets, necklaces, cufflinks, earrings and rings which are set, braided and polished by hand in Copenhagen, Denmark. Shamballa Jewels’ personalized designs have earned the custom of men and women alike. Karl Lagerfeld, Valentino, HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, HRH Crown Princess Mette Marit of Norway, Michael Jordan, Diane Von Furstenberg and Giorgio Armani are some the discerning collectors of Shamballa Jewels.

THE STAR OF SHAMBALLA

The Star of Shamballa logo is a recurring motif in Shamballa Jewels’ designs. Humans and stars are made of the same matter. Just like stars, humans emanate heat and light too. We shine the brightest when we share compassion and smiles. The Star of Shamballa will be your constant reminder to shine like a star.
