Hawk Yachts challenges stale superyacht status quo with new luxury expedition yacht
Hawk Yachts today revealed its new concept, the expedition yacht Hawk Ranger, a go-anywhere vessel which opens up distant oceans and sea passages to bold adventurers and is set to shake-up the stale superyacht market.
From Scott’s Hut in Cape Evans, Antarctica, where the explorers’ boots, food and experiments are all preserved as they were when the ill-fated expedition set off, to remote indigenous villages in the Amazon rainforest with only a handful of inhabitants, the yacht brings some of the most beautiful and remote locations around the world within the reach of high-end voyagers.
Hawk Yachts challenges the industry status quo by building global expedition yachts which offer an attractive investment opportunity. The innovative designs combine superyacht standards and finish with commercial engineering and construction, significantly reducing build and operating costs.

The yachts have the capability to extend the revenue earning season up to 50 weeks a year; offering owners, investors, or high-end operators a business model with better returns in a stand-alone or combined owner, charter, or cruising agreement.
The Hawk Ranger has spacious guest areas, with 670 sqm of internal space. This includes an owner’s suite (which is able to be sub-divided), two VIP suites and four guest cabins.
A fully certified helideck has been incorporated, doubling as a large sundeck with a pool and outside recreation area. The observation lounge on the sundeck allows for either indoor or outdoor entertainment with a floor to ceiling glass wall and panoramic skylight.

The design and naval architecture of the Ranger has been completed by the renowned British company Laurent Giles in conjunction with Hawk Yachts. The hull construction is of steel, with the superstructure and mast made of aluminum alloy. The Hawk Ranger is designed for full expedition with a range of 6,800 miles at a cruising speed of 13knots, and with a maximum speed of 17knots.
The yacht will be showcased at the Düsseldorf BOOT in January 2019 and is the latest in the current range, which includes the Cape Hawk 690 (48m) and the 103m Sea Hawk. Full engineering and tank test for the Hawk Ranger have been completed. Construction on the yacht can begin within three months of order, with a launch date of two and a half years.
